Funston Street

A boarding house development that consists of two detached two storey buildings. The northern building addresses Funston Street and contains four ground floor and four first floor boarding rooms; and the southern building that contains five ground floor boarding rooms plus the communal lounge and six first floor boarding rooms. Combined, the development will contain nineteen individual one bedroom accommodation units.

The communal lounge area located at ground level adjoins a centrally located ground floor outdoor common open space area as part of a network of open spaces allocated across the site. Three significant trees were retained that provide a mature landscape environment.

The architecture is inspired by a rural vernacular and typology that is fitting in this setting. The scale, massing and roof forms are deliberate an considered to ensure a positive contextual fit.
